Finding true happiness and contentment in Christ

Finding True Happiness and Contentment in Christ

In a world filled with distractions, pressures, and endless pursuits of happiness, it’s easy to think that the next big thing—a new job, a relationship, a vacation, or even just the latest gadget—will finally bring the peace and fulfillment we long for. But if we’re honest, those things, while enjoyable, never quite satisfy our deepest needs. There’s always another craving, another goal, another thing to chase.

What if real happiness isn’t found in the temporary but in something—someone—eternal?

The Peace of Knowing Who and Whose You Are

The Bible tells us that true peace and joy come from knowing Christ—who He is and what He’s done for us. Jesus says in John 14:27 (NIV), “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” This means that real peace isn’t tied to circumstances, possessions, or status. It’s rooted in the unshakable reality that we belong to God.

When we begin to understand that we are loved, redeemed, and secure in Him, we stop trying to define ourselves by fleeting successes. Instead, we find rest in our identity as His children (Romans 8:16-17).

The Illusion of Modern Comforts

Technology, entertainment, and material success offer convenience, but they can never substitute for deep, soul-level peace. Social media, entertainment, and even career achievements give temporary highs but often leave us emptier than before. Ecclesiastes 2:10-11 tells us that King Solomon, who had everything the world could offer, ultimately found it all meaningless compared to knowing God.

It’s easy to numb our struggles with distractions—Netflix binges, social media scrolling, endless Amazon purchases—but none of these fill the void. Matthew 6:19-21 reminds us, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven… For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

The Joy of Walking with Christ Daily

The beautiful thing about a relationship with Jesus is that it’s not just a one-time decision—it’s a daily walk. When we seek Him, spend time in His Word, pray, and live in community with other believers, we experience joy that doesn’t fade.

Psalm 16:11 (NIV) promises, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” No earthly pleasure can compare to the lasting joy of living in His presence!

An Invitation to Discover More

This February, we invite you to explore what true love and fulfillment really are. Join us at 9:30 AM in the Coffesations area at church for open, honest conversations about what it means to be truly known and loved by God. Nothing can replace authentic relationships

The Power of Authentic Connection

Let’s be real for a second—social media is great. A quick scroll through Instagram or a snap on Snapchat helps us check in on our friends, keep up with what’s trending, and even get a little inspiration. But have you ever noticed that even after spending time online, you still crave something more? That’s because God designed us for real, face-to-face connection—not just likes and comments.

In a world where we can “connect” with thousands in seconds, it’s easy to feel more disconnected than ever. That’s why being intentional about real, in-person community is so important—especially in this season of life where we’re figuring out our careers, faith, and future. We need each other.

Why Does Authentic Community Matter?

God wired us for relationship—not just with Him, but with each other. Scripture makes this clear over and over again:

1. We’re Stronger Together.
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17
When we’re around other people who are walking similar paths, we push each other to grow. Whether it’s in faith, career goals, or just life in general, we become better when we do life together.

2. Encouragement is a Game Changer.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Life can be heavy sometimes. Stress from work, school, relationships, and just trying to “adult” can feel overwhelming. But having friends who genuinely care—who pray with you, speak life into you, and just show up—makes all the difference.

3. We Experience More Joy.
“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” – Romans 12:15
The best moments in life are meant to be shared. Whether it’s celebrating a new job, navigating challenges, or just laughing over coffee, true connection brings joy in ways social media never could.

4. Jesus Modeled It.
Jesus surrounded Himself with people. He ate with them, traveled with them, prayed with them, and did life together. If Jesus—who literally could have done everything alone—chose community, then we definitely need it too!

Let’s Connect!

The good news? You don’t have to figure this out alone. Every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM, we meet together at Father’s Vineyard to grow in faith, build friendships, and walk this journey together. Whether you’re looking for deep conversation, encouragement, or just some people to go grab brunch with after church—we’re here for it!

So here’s a challenge for you: Who are the people in your life that truly sharpen you? Who do you encourage, and who encourages you? Drop a comment below and let’s talk about what real community means to you!

Aiming High in 2025: Dream Big, Step Boldly, and Walk by Faith

Aiming High in 2025: Dream Big, Step Boldly, and Walk by Faith

As we step into 2025, I want to challenge you to aim high—not just in your career, your education, or your relationships, but in every part of your life. This year, don’t settle for mediocrity. Don’t let fear keep you from pursuing the dreams God has placed in your heart. Instead, let’s step forward with faith, determination, and a deep trust in the Lord’s plan.

God Calls You to Greater Things

One of my favorite verses is Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” No matter where you are today—whether you’re in college, building your career, navigating relationships, or seeking purpose—God has a greater plan for your life. He is not calling you to a life of fear or hesitation, but one of boldness and trust in Him.

Set Goals with Faith and Purpose

Proverbs 16:3 tells us, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” This means that as you set goals for this year, don’t just focus on what you want—focus on what God is leading you to. Seek His guidance in prayer, ask Him to shape your desires, and trust Him to open doors that no one can shut.

So how do you aim high this year? Here are three key principles:

  1. Step Out in Faith – Faith requires action. James 2:17 reminds us that “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” If you’re believing for a better job, a stronger relationship, or success in school, take steps toward it. Apply for that position, put in the hard work, invest in your relationship—trust that God is with you as you move forward.
  2. Stay Rooted in God’s Word – Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” This year, let Scripture guide your decisions. When you face challenges, lean into God’s promises. When you feel discouraged, remind yourself of His faithfulness.
  3. Surround Yourself with the Right People – Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” The people you surround yourself with will either encourage your growth or hinder it. Stay connected to a community of faith that challenges and supports you.

A Month to Focus on Love & Forgiveness

Pt 1 “Freedom To Love” By Terry Wilson

As we journey through February, I want to personally invite you to join us in the main sanctuary in the Coffesations area (Sunday at 9:30am) as we dive into the topic of unconditional, sacrificial love. We’ll be discussing how embracing and expressing forgiveness allows us to experience and share a deeper, more powerful love. Whether you’re in a relationship, hoping for one, or simply wanting to grow in love for others, these conversations will be life-changing.

Ephesians 4:32 reminds us: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” When we live in forgiveness, we live in freedom. When we love sacrificially, we reflect the love of Christ.

Let’s Make 2025 a Year of Growth

This year, don’t be afraid to dream bigger, love deeper, and trust God more fully. He is with you in every step, and He is calling you to a higher level. Are you ready to step into all that God has for you?

I can’t wait to see you throughout February on Sunday’s at 9:30am as we explore these topics together. Let’s grow, let’s aim high, and let’s walk boldly into the future God has prepared for us!

See you soon!
