What is Bitter Fruit?

In the context of prayer ministry, “fruit” refers to our moral character and the expressions that come from our heart.

No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:43-45

Bitter fruit can refer to sinful habits and responses or repeated problems and patterns of sin throughout a person’s life. In ministering to a person, it is wise to first define what the bad fruit actually is and, from that point, find its root or cause. God wants to transform our lives and character through Jesus Christ living in us, and in effect produce His character (the fruit of the Spirit) within us.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Galations: 5:22-23
