APRIL 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nHappy almost summer time friends!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here in Ticuman Morelos we’re reaching temperatures over the 100’s \u00b0F and we all sure look forward to the rainy season that, surprisingly, is expected 4 months earlier than in Michoacan. Well, that’s good news!<\/p>\n

This month we have seen God turning situations around for His glory and the well-being of our family. He has been so good. The risk we were facing of our\u00a0 baby being born pre-term is\u00a0now long gone and both him and Isabel are doing so well, even “perfecto” as the Doctor said in our last appointment. Glory to God and thank you for praying for us!
\nOur baby already has a name – Elliot Gray.
\nElliot means “The Lord is my God”, and Gray, in reference to many beloved Grays in the Somerville family!\u00a0 We can’t wait to meet him sometime at the ends of May or early June.<\/p>\n

As for our living situation, a staff house opened up this month as a staff family unexpectedly had to leave. It’s been somewhat of a bittersweet thing as that family and ours had made such a sweet connection! It was sad to see them leave. On the other hand, the house we were able to move in was designed and lived in by Scott’s parents and youngest brother on their last\u00a0 few years here at El Monte. It is so awesome that this beautiful house is being occupied by more Somervilles now!<\/p>\n

April has been the last month of the English school at the Missionary Training Center. The graduation ceremony will be next week and we are all so proud of their effort and huge accomplishment, completing level A2. Sara\u00ed, our only foreigner in class this term, will be going back to Guatemala in the next few days to continue to lead her ministry and a few international mission trips already planned for her year. What a privilege it’s been for Isabel to help her as well as the other students to improve their language skills for their mission field over the past few months!<\/p>\n

This month Scott continued to work with the maintenance men in some very needed projects at the camp site. The 3 men that work in maintenance aren’t missionaries, but hired local workers, non-believers. Every morning they all sit together for “Coke-time” (they love drinking Coca-Cola!) during their break and they all share their snacks with each other and engage in conversation, sometimes meaningful, sometimes not, but they have always been interested in hearing what Scott has\u00a0to share about his faith in God. They sometimes ask deep questions about God and the conversation stays on for the whole work day together.<\/p>\n

Toni is one of\u00a0 the hired workers. He’s single and still very young. One day this month he and Scott went out to the large soccer fields and noticed how dry the grass was due to the hard weather conditions lately. Scott invited Toni to join him laying their hands down on the grass to bless it, asking God for rain (in the dry season!). Toni did it gladly but probably thinking Scott was a little crazy!
\nThat evening it didn’t rain, IT POURED and thundered for hours and hours, soaking the dry soil of El Monte and the whole valley of Ticuman. Glory to God! He answers prayers as crazy as this one and he shows us in moments like these how much he deeply cares and loves His children. Please keep Tony in your prayers, as well as the the other men, Alex and Ricardo\u00a0to have a real encounter with Jesus soon and surrender their lives to Him. Pray for many opportunities for Scott and the other missionaries here to continue to witness to them and disciple them as they share work hours and fellowship together.<\/p>\n

Thank you for your continued financial partnership and prayer support, thank you for believing in what we do in this part of Mexico and our new mission field. We praise and thank God for each of you. May the Lord bless you and refresh you abundantly, amen!<\/p>\n

We had amazing help when we moved into El Monte.
\nDani, sitting on the right, is a friend from church in Cuernavaca. She came to stay with us for four days to help us set up our house. Sarai, sitting on the left, helped Scott pressure wash the outside of the house on her time off school. The English students and director also came to help all together for a few hours. Isabel’s parents took the girls to Cuernavaca for three days.

This month we finally got the chance to reconnect with our church from Cuernavaca (about an hour-long drive from El Monte). It was SO encouraging to see such dear friends and family in Christ!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
