Put remembrance on your calendar.

With November approaching, we want to remind our Father’s Vineyard family of a meaningful opportunity right here in our community. The Wall That Heals will be in Rutherford County November 12–15, bringing the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial exhibit to Spindale for its only North Carolina stop in 2026.

This three-quarter-scale replica of the memorial in Washington, D.C., offers a place to pause and honor those who died in the Vietnam War. Among the names it carries are ten service members from Rutherford County—lives woven into the history of our own community.

Come with a grateful heart.

A name on a memorial represents a person loved and missed. Behind it are family stories, friendships, and moments that still matter. Visiting gives us time to consider those lives with care and to help another generation understand why we remember.

We encourage you to set aside time to go. Invite a family member or friend. If you bring children, talk with them about service, sacrifice, and the importance of listening to those whose experiences are different from their own.

For some visitors, the experience may be deeply personal. A quiet presence, a patient ear, or a simple expression of gratitude can be a meaningful way to show care. Give others the space they need to reflect.

Let remembrance lead us to prayer.

As a church family, we can carry this spirit of compassion beyond our visit. Pray for veterans and military families, for those grieving someone they love, and for those living with burdens others may never see. Ask God to help us recognize opportunities to offer friendship, encouragement, and practical support.

“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.”

Romans 12:15 · ESV

Let’s be a church that remembers with gratitude and responds with love. Whether you visit with your family, a friend, or on your own, we hope you will make time for this opportunity to honor those who served.

Remember. Honor. Pray.
