Somerville’s June Prayer Newsletter

JUNE 2026

The Birth of Elliot Gray

“I’m sure now I’ll see God’s goodness in the exuberant earth. Stay with God! Take heart. Don’t quit.
I’ll say it again: Stay with God.”
Psalms 27:14 MSG

Hello once again beloved friends and family in Christ, thank you for taking a moment to read our newsletter!

Our most awaited moment finally came this month, not early and not a single day late, but 3 days before our due date: Elliot Gray Somerville was born!

So much about this pregnancy and the birth of this baby made us praise God over and over again for His mercy and love covering us all the way through. We saw God’s providence, care and protection over our son’s life from the very beginning until the day he was born, and his birth story was showered in God’s mercies that I (Isabel) still continue to take in. We had the quickest hospital birth, with no need for any interventions or medication, supported by our chosen medical providers and a wonderful Doula. The Lord’s help was so evident and we just praise His name! Elliot is healthy, easy and adorable.

Now that we live in a closer location to our Mexican side of family, we have been able to enjoy family visits that we could never even dream of when our daugthers were born and we lived in Michoacan. We are living a very different season as a family and we have so much to be thankful for.

After a few days of rest and recovery, Scott got back to work. There has been much progress with the backhoe, clearing the land for the future staff houses; The Village Project. It is exciting to dream big for El Monte, as we dreamed big for Capacuaro, and see God move mountains and do wonderful things for His glory.

For a full week in June, El Monte hosted a wonderful team from the U.S. that worked on many different projects in campus. They were of big help and encouragement to us all!

Now in July we have one of the most exciting seasons for the camp ministry: Summer Camps! El Monte’s staff is working hard and spending time in prayer in preparation for this awaited month. Please join us praying for all the campers that will come in July, may they have amazing encounters with Jesus here at El Monte, may this be a time when many kids and youth accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and also a time where the volunteers that are coming as Summer staff and camp counselors grow deeper in their relationship with God and live experiences that ground them in Christ for a life-time, amen!

Thank you for your beautiful partnership, your love, support and friendship. We are blessed to have you in our lives! We pray God’s richest blessings over you and your loved ones. Happy Summer time!
