Hope for Mexico March Prayer Newsletter

Hello dear friends!

Thank you so much for taking a moment to read our March update! We pray blessings over you and your families, and we thank you for being partners with us of what God is doing here in Mexico. Our new mission field definitely looks and feels like a universe away from the P’urhepecha region sometimes! But there is so much purpose and vision that God is giving our family for this new season here and we can’t wait to share with you the highlighs of this month. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your partnership, your prayers and support!

At the endĀ of February and the beginningĀ of March, El Monte hosted what we should call an Epic team from The Grove Church in California.Ā 85 men called “HANDS” came to serve in practical ways at El Monte, local churches and ministries around this area. The end result of their visit was wonderful. These men worked so lovingly and sacrificially to serve and leave a legacy that will bless Mexican churches, missionaries and active ministries for years to come.

After the HANDS team left, El Monte continued with its regular schedule, and ran their annual Misions Camp “Por Causa del Llamado” (For the sake of the Call), a very special and awaited event that ignites the flame of global missionary work in Mexican campers.

Scott has been working on maintenance and some construction, and will now focus on developing and managing some projects at El Monte.

Isabel is part of the staff of the Missionary Training Center, teaching English to global workers.

A little about our kids…

Amelia Josephine (5 years old) is being homeschooled, currently doing Kindergarten level. She loves learning, playing outdoors, painting, reading and Math!

Olivia Mackena turned 3 last week. She is a bundle of cuteness, genious and laughter and keeps us all on our toes.

Our third, currently on the way!, is a sweet BOY named Elliot Gray. We can’t wait to meet himĀ sometime around June 8th. We have recently had to make more visits thanĀ usual to our Doctor, having received news that there is a risk for our baby to be born pre-term. Please join us praying for our baby to reach full-term, and good health and strength for both him and Isabel. Our God is faithful!

A special prayer request:

Our housing situation desperately needs a a change.Ā Our little rental house in town came with many electrical and water problems, plus itĀ has already been sold to a new owner. It’s almost impossible to find other rentals here in town, and we would not want to move much farther from our work place. Isabel is 30 weeks pregnant and we need to find a good solutionĀ that works for our growing family before the baby is born. Again, God is faithful. He has miraculously provided before, and we know He will do it again. Please join us praying for theĀ provision of a greatĀ rental house for us. Thank you!

Hope for Mexico February/March Prayer Newsletter

Our beginnings as full-time staff at El Monte, Mexico
Hola from Ticuman, Morelos dear friends!Thank you so much for taking the time to read our update! We pray blessings over you and your loved ones.

February wasĀ a beautiful month where we sawĀ God’s faithfulness to our family over and over agan. From difficult health challenges that turned into praise reports to birthday celebrations and thanksgiving for being where we are geographically in Mexico… our God is so kind.
Despite the terrible things that have been happening in Mexico at the handsĀ of organized crime (and our beloved Uruapan, Michoacan becoming one of the centers of most chaos) we have witnessed nothing but peace and calm in Ticuman and El Monte’s sorroundings. Glory to God for times of no high-risk living for our family and also prayers lifted for those we love dearly in Capacuaro and Uruapan.

February was also a month of much work in preparation to welcoming the largest short-team ever hosted by El Monte (and ever seen by us!): close to 100 men from The Grove Church in California.
Scott’s involvement in this epic task at El Monte was welding projects at the pavilion to leave the ceiling structure as ready as possible for The Grove Team to work on it and leave itĀ as good as new during the week they will be here.
There are many important projects and improvements at the camp site that El Monte needs and these amazing men arrived ready to work hard. They have already made so much improvement in less than two days! We are excited to see the final result of their visit at the end of this week.
I wonder if Ed and Debbie Somerville, founders of El Monte (and Scott’s parents), ever imagined teams this large would come and serve like this! Exciting times over here in Ticuman.

Isabel continues to teach English at the Cross-Cultural Training School and while she teaches, a beautiful couple named Alberto and Xochitl run a kids program for our staff kids. What a blessing! Our girls absolulety love their teachers and the other Missionary Kids that live here.

We can’t stop thanking you for partnering with us prayerfully and financially! Serving at El Monte gives us the opportunity to participate in the training of global missionaries that go to the far ends of the Earth and really difficult locations, as well asĀ serving the Mexican church through camp ministries.

We can’t stop thanking the Lord for all He has done. He unexpectedly led us intoĀ whatĀ is proving to be His beautiful and perfect will and plans for our family in this new season.

Out of the Ashes March 2026 Prayer Update

Springing up in Resurrection Power

Spring reminds us that what looked dead all winter was never truly gone, it was just waiting for the right moment to rise again.Ā Thatā€™s the power of the Resurrection.

The same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the grave is still moving today. Resurrection power is not just something we celebrate on Easter, itā€™s something we live in. It is the power that brings life to dry bones, hope to weary hearts, and freedom to those bound by addiction, shame, and regret.

Recovery is resurrection in motion. When someone chooses sobrietyā€¦

When someone says ā€œyesā€ to healingā€¦When someone dares to believe their story isnā€™t overā€¦That is resurrection power at work.

The stone was rolled away not just from a tomb long ago, but from every life willing to surrender to Christ. What once felt buried, dreams, purpose, identity, joy, begins to spring up again. Spring doesnā€™t ask permission to bloom.

And neither does the power of God.

If you feel like youā€™ve been in a long winter season, remember this:

The grave could not hold Him.

And your past cannot hold you. In Christ, we donā€™t just survive, we rise.

ā€œTherefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.ā€Ā  2 Corinthians 5:17

This is the season to spring up.

This is the season to rise.

This is the season to walk in Resurrection power. šŸŒø

A Testimony of Faith

When Susan came to Out Of The Ashes, she wasnā€™t just carrying a bag, she was carrying fear. She had just left a domestic violence situation with her young daughter. One winter night, she and her child were pushed out into the cold. With nowhere else to go, they called us from Walmart. That call changed everything.

Because of your support, prayers, and generosity, we were able to say, ā€œYes, come.ā€

When Susan first arrived, her anxiety was overwhelming. The trauma of instability, fear, and survival mode had taken a toll. But something powerful happens when a mother and her child finally feel safe. Today, Susanā€™s anxiety and depression have significantly decreased. Why? Because safety changes the nervous system.

Stability restores dignity. Community rebuilds hope. With a roof over their heads and consistent support, she has been able to focus on healing, not just surviving.

Through medical care, we discovered that Susan is anemic and her daughter has asthma. These are issues that canā€™t be addressed when youā€™re living in crisis. But when stability is present, health can be restored. Susan is now:

  • Attending therapy

  • Building coping skills

  • Learning life skills

  • Seeking employment

  • Working toward long-term independence

And most importantly, she feels safe. Her daughter feels safe. That matters.

Stories like this are only possible because of those who give, pray, and stand with us. When you support Out Of The Ashes, you are not just funding a program, you are creating refuge in the middle of crisis. You are helping mothers choose safety.

When Cody came to Out of the Ashes, he had just been released from prison. He had lived the lifestyle of gangs, drugs, and chaos. He has gained employment. He serves and gives back to other men walking the same road he once walked. Most importantly, Cody dedicated his life to Christ. During the month of January, we served a total of 69 individuals in our community:
ā€¢ Ā  Ā 34 women and children
ā€¢ Ā  Ā 35 men

These numbers represent real people families, elders, widows, children, and neighbors, who needed a safe place during a season of extreme hardship.

A Lifeline During Winter Storms

The Code Purple Emergency Shelter became a true lifeline during the two winter storms that impacted our region. In the coldest moments, individuals had:

ā€¢ Ā  Ā šŸ‘• Clothing and hygiene supplies

When there was nowhere else to go, there was a place here.

It truly takes a village, and all hands were on deck as we prepared for and weathered this recent storm. What could have been a difficult situation became a powerful reminder of what true community looks like.

First, we want to thank Rutherford County Emergency Management for going above and beyond by providing two generators so we could continue offering essential services if power had been lost. We are also incredibly grateful to Fountain Electric for getting everything properly wired and storm ready, and to those who helped us update and secure our undated HVAC systems, your willingness to stand in the gap and push through the pressure with us truly mattered.

Many people donā€™t understand the preparation and planning, the commitment and dedication, the GRIT and Grind as well as all that goes into what we do on a daily basis, Weekends and Holidayā€™s included! #365/24/7

Thank you to the kind ladies who brought blankets, to everyone who prayed with us and for us, and to Firehouse Subs for the generous donation of 400 subs. Every act of service, seen and unseen, played a vital role in helping us care for people during the trials our community faced because of the weather.

Rutherford County should be smiling. God has truly shown His grace and mercy through the people of this community.

Jason Couch came to the mission broken and bound by addiction. Like so many, drugs had taken a toll on his body, his mind, and his hope. But God wasnā€™t finished with his story.

While in recovery, Jason faced a life-threatening medical crisis and had to undergo emergency open heart surgery. In that moment, he truly believed he crossed over but by the grace of God, his life was spared. Jason shares that he knows without a doubt the Lord intervened, saved him, and brought him back for a purpose.

Today, Jason is not only clean and sober he is alive, restored, and walking in gratitude. He now serves alongside us, helping other men who are fighting the same battles he once faced. His life is a living testimony that recovery is possible and that God is still in the business of healing, restoring, and redeeming.

We are deeply grateful to God for the work He is doing in Jasonā€™s life and for the way Jason is now pouring that hope into others. We look forward to an even greater praise report as God continues to write this story.

Sanctity of Human Life Day

Sunday, January 26 is National Sanctity of Human Life Day. Our prayer is God’s heart: life for the unborn!

Fatherā€™s Vineyard is a steady supporter of Hands of Hope Pregnancy Resource Center in Forest City. Hands of Hope is a non-profit, faith-based ministry that has served Rutherford and Polk counties for thirty-three years by providing education, emotional, material and spiritual support to its clients. The following verses are the heart of Hands of Hopeā€™s ministry:

  • Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. Genesis 2:7
  • Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:5
  • Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Psalm 127:3
  • For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my motherā€™s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Psalm 139:13-16
  • You shall not murder. Exodus 20:13
  • There areĀ six things that theĀ Lordhates,Ā seven that are an abomination to him:
    Ā haughty eyes,Ā a lying tongue,Ā andĀ hands that shed innocent blood,
    Ā a heart that devises wicked plans,Ā feet that make haste to run to evil,
    Ā a false witness whoĀ breathes out lies,Ā and one whoĀ sows discord among brothers. Proverbs 6:16-19
  • For I know the plans I have for you, declares theĀ Lord, plans for welfare[a]and not for evil,Ā to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
  • Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. Proverbs 31:8-9

We could probably stop here and everyone here would understand why today is important. But let me share some history with you.

**As you all know, a couple years ago, Roe v. Wade was overturnedā€¦what does that mean?***NC has work to do. The picture of abortion has changed. Now abortion in NC can be done in a clinic up to 12 weeks gestation. The vast majority are actually done with the abortion pill. One pill is taken in the clinic, the other a homeā€¦alone. Ā This is a new challenge that means we must get the mother in our doors much quicker than before. We use social media, google ads, and our website to reach them. This is a major point of prayer! We ask God to bring them to us each and every day.

On this Sanctity of Human Life Day, join us as we pray for the following:

  • For those in the decision-making process to choose life
  • For those who have aborted, to find healing through Christ
  • For those in the abortion industry to see truth and to speak truth.
  • For those who are in pro-life work to be blessed, protected, given discernment, and strength.
  • For those struggling with infertility to be able to become parents; either naturally or through adoption
  • For the adoption agencies & States to be able to make adoption more affordable.
  • For those who have lost a infant to find peace and healing for their grief.
  • For the Church to submit to the authority of God and His Word, to not be deceived by the Enemy, To not conform to the pattern of the World,
  • For the Church to be bold in itā€™s stance for Life
  • For the Church to begin to Sacrifice in ways that it never has before, in order to meet the needs of ā€œthe least of theseā€

ā€œWhen I think about how choosing life can affect so many folks in a positive way, I am overwhelmed. You see this is my story! I am the mom of 6ā€¦3 in heaven. Those are the ones God used to teach me about human life. However, He did not stop there. Because of your generosity, prayers, and faithful support, Out of the Ashes Ministries was able to keep our lights on, our doors open, and provide safe housing, warmth, and care for individuals and families throughout the winter months, the holidays, and all year long.

The need for services has increased substantially, especially during the coldest seasons, yet because of you, people were not left outside, forgotten, or without hope.

We truly cannot do this work alone. It takes a community willing to stand in the gap, through giving, serving, praying, and believing that lives are worth fighting for.
Last year 2024 we housed just over 300 individuals and this last year 2025 we housed 478 individuals.

Above all, we give thanks to the Lord, who has been faithful in every season and who continues to provide through His people.

A heartfelt thank you to Sheriff Aaron Ellenburg and Tracy & Lou with WCAB 100.9 Radio for coming out and blessing the children of Out of the Ashes with Christmas gifts. What may seem small to some made a huge impact on these families. .

As we were talking with some of the moms, many shared that they werenā€™t sure how they were going to provide Christmas gifts for their children this year. Yet once again, God proved Himself faithful. He made a way when there seemed to be no way, and every need was met, just as He promised.

The real gift in it all is Jesus Christ

Founderā€™s End-of-Year Reflection Entering Our 10th Year
As we close out this year and prepare to enter our 10th year of serving our community and our Lord and Savior, we do so with humbled hearts and deep gratitude.
2025 has been a year that stretched us, far beyond what we knew we were capable of. There were moments we didnā€™t know we were that flexible. Funding was challenging at times. Staffing was challenging at times. The work itself was challenging at times. Yet through every obstacle, the Lord remained faithful.
We were reminded once again that serving ā€œthe least of theseā€ is not easy work, and it was never meant to be. Someone once told me, ā€œIf it were easy, everybody would be doing it.ā€ This calling requires more than effort; it requires obedience, endurance, anointing, and faith. Through it all, we give all the glory to the Lord.
I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to our Board of Directors, who faithfully steward this mission with wisdom, accountability, prayer, and leadership. Your commitment, guidance, and willingness to stand with us through both the victories and the challenges have been vital to our ability to continue this work with integrity and purpose. We are deeply thankful for our team, our staff, and our volunteers, those who show up, serve sacrificially, pray faithfully, and allow us the honor of walking alongside them. We are also grateful to our supporters and partners who sow into this work and believe in what God is doing right here in our own backyard. Over the years, we have had the privilege of helping thousands of individuals, not overseas, but right here in our local community. And beyond meeting physical and practical needs, we have witnessed something even greater, hundreds of individuals giving their lives to the Lord, being saved, and baptized. To see lives transformed and faith awakened has been a powerful reminder that the harvest is real and the work matters. We are incredibly excited to continue seeing the harvest come forth. We are doing the best we can with what we have, trusting God to multiply it for His glory. I am reminded often that we do not labor in vain. I truly sense the Lord continuing to say, ā€œKeep praising.ā€ And because of that, I believe with confidence that our best years are still ahead of us. We are still growing, still learning, and still trusting God with every part of who we are. To everyone who has prayed, served, given, led, supported, and believed, thank you. You help make this mission possible. Together, we will continue breaking the chains of addiction and homelessness, one person at a time.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
Out of the Ashes Recovery Ministries

As we enter our tenth year of serving Rutherford and Polk Counties, we want to share a powerful reminder of what the Lord has done through this community.

So far in 2025 alone, Out of the Ashes has served 430 individuals who would have had nowhere to go, men, women, and children who would have been out on the street with no shelter, support, or hope.

This is up from the 300+ individuals served last year, and it has been accomplished with no government funding, only through the generosity of local businesses, foundations, churches, and individuals such as yourselves.

We are deeply grateful. Your prayers, compassion, and support have made a way where there seemed to be no way. Every number represents a real person. Every person represents a story. And every story holds the possibility of a restored life.

Who We Are and Who We Are Not

Out of the Ashes is a faith-based recovery ministry and we are committed to:

ā€¢ Breaking the chains of addiction and homelessness
ā€¢ Restoring individuals back to their true identity in Christ
ā€¢ Helping people become productive members of society
ā€¢ Reuniting families and rebuilding lives
ā€¢ We do not mandate chapel services or bible studies and people are welcomed to attend any church of their choosing if they so choose!

* We have zero tolerance for drugs on our campus!
Recently we have had individuals show up for code purple with Drugs on their persons, We will NOT tolerate individuals bringing drugs!
This is our mission, and we will stay true to it.

* We are a ministry for those who want help! We cant make anyone want help!

We also want the community to understand who we are not:

ā€¢ We are not a psychiatric facility.
ā€¢ We are not a detox center.
ā€¢ We are not a crisis mental health hospital.
ā€¢ We are not responsible for solving homelessness for the entire county.
ā€¢ We are not going to change our mission to meet expectations that do not align with our calling.

Some become frustrated because we are not who they want us to be. Even so, we do not tear down or criticize other organizations.

We build up. We encourage. And we pray for everyone, including those who may misunderstand us or speak against us.

We are focused on the work God entrusted to us, and we will continue serving with love, integrity, and excellence.

Homelessness Is a County Issue , Not an Out of the Ashes Issue

Rutherford County, like the rest of the nation, is facing a growing homeless crisis created by rising housing costs, lack of mental health services, and limited emergency care options.

This is a countywide issue, not an Out of the Ashes issue.

We did not create homelessness, but for nearly a decade we have stepped into the gap, doing everything we can with what we have. And we will continue to do so responsibly.

Because of safety, stewardship, and capacity:

ā€¢ Individuals must be from Rutherford or Polk Counties
ā€¢ A phone assessment is mandatory before entry
ā€¢ Walk-ins are not accepted
ā€¢ We maintain a zero tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol on campus

We must protect the safety of those already in our care, including men, women, and children rebuilding their lives.

Out of the Ashes is seeking a reliable, compassionate, and accountable Resident Coordinator to support our menā€™s and womenā€™s recovery programs. This is a part time position ideal for someone who has a heart for people, strong boundaries, and the ability to follow structure.

āœØ Position Responsibilities:

ā€¢ Conduct resident intakes & orientation

ā€¢ Perform drug and alcohol screenings

ā€¢ Provide one-on-one support to residents

ā€¢ Help facilitate group meetings

ā€¢ Communicate clearly and follow established procedures

ā€¢ Maintain a safe, respectful, and structured environment

āœØ Requirements:

ā€¢ Dependable, professional, and able to work evenings & weekends

ā€¢ Ability to remain calm, patient, and fair-minded

ā€¢ Good communication and people skills

ā€¢ Willingness to learn and be coached

ā€¢ Recovery experience is a plus, but not required

Thankful for His Faithfulness

5 New Lives Transformed This Week! šŸ”„

What an incredible week at Out Of The Ashes! šŸ™Œ

We welcomed five new intakes since Friday into our program and all five made professions of faith, accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and were baptized, being born again into new life! šŸ’¦āœØ

The Word says,

ā€œTherefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!ā€ Ā 2 Corinthians 5:17

When He gave His only Son, He did it so that no one should perish but that all should have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Even though the world seems to be getting darker, remember, darkness is only the absence of light. šŸŒŸ

So let your light shine, men and women of God! Donā€™t be silent, donā€™t be oppressed, donā€™t stay bound by sin or shame. Rise up!

ā€œLet your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.ā€ Ā Matthew 5:16

Testimony: Goergeā€™s Story Beauty from Ashes

We are so grateful to celebrate what God is doing in Goergeā€™s life! When she first came to Out of the Ashes, she was struggling deeply battling addiction to cocaine and facing incredible pain after the tragic loss of her son, who was a quadriplegic and was killed. Her heart was heavy, and hope felt distant.

But God was not finished with her story. Through the love, prayers, and support of this ministry family, Goerge encountered the transforming love of Christ. Recently, she rededicated her life to Jesus and took the beautiful step of water baptism declaring publicly that she now belongs to Him!

We are in awe of how God is restoring her life, renewing her hope, and showing His faithfulness through it all. Thank you to everyone who supports Out of the Ashes. Because of your generosity, we are able to be the hands and feet of Jesus loving people like Goerge and helping them rise from the ashes into new life in Christ.

Testimony: Carlosā€™ Story Ā  A Heart Restored by God

We want to give all glory to God for the incredible transformation in Carlosā€™ life. Iā€™ve known Carlos for nearly 40 years, and his journey has been one of deep pain and powerful redemption. Years ago, Carlos faced an unimaginable tragedy when his eight-year-old daughter was brutally murdered. The grief and heartbreak led him to run from God for many years, carrying anger, sorrow, and questions that seemed to have no answers.

But the Lord, in His mercy, never stopped pursuing him. Recently, Carlos surrendered his heart and gave his life to Jesus Christ accepting Him as his Lord and Savior. Since then, weā€™ve witnessed God begin to heal his heart and restore his hope. Today, Carlos is striving to be a better father, a loving grandfather, and a man after Godā€™s own heart.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord and to share the gospel that changes lives. Stories like Carlosā€™ remind us that no one is too far gone for Godā€™s grace. Thank you for your continued support, it allows us to reach people with the love of Jesus and walk alongside them as they rise from the ashes into new life.

Testimony: Ericā€™s Story Ā From Prison to Purpose

We rejoice in what God is doing in Ericā€™s life! Just this week, Eric was released from prison with nowhere to go and no clear direction for what was next. But God had a plan. His parole officer reached out to Refuge Out of the Ashes, and after an assessment and interview, Eric shared that he was ā€œsick and tired of being sick and tired.ā€ He said he was ready to stop living for himself and start living for the Lord.

This week, Eric made the powerful decision to give his life to Jesus and follow Him in water baptism a public declaration of his new beginning in Christ!

Please keep Eric in your prayers as he walks this new journey of faith, healing, and transformation. Because of your prayers and generous support, Out of the Ashes is able to open its doors to men like Eric, showing them the love of God and giving them a safe place to rebuild their lives on the solid foundation of Christ.

Testimony & Transformation: Jasonā€™s Story šŸŒŸ

We are excited to share what God is doing in Jasonā€™s life! šŸ™Œ Recently, Jason was accepted into Out Of The Ashes after facing a near-death experience that became a wake-up call for his soul. In that moment of mercy, Jason gave his life to the Lord, was born again, and made the powerful decision to be baptized. šŸ’§

Jason is now on a new journey striving to become a better man, father, and grandfather. Heā€™s seeking employment and housing, and weā€™re standing in faith that God will open every door for him.

Because of your continued support and prayers, opportunities like this are made possible every single day. Lives are being changed. Hope is being restored.

A New Beginning: Brandenā€™s Story šŸ”„

Meet Branden, who came to Out Of The Ashes with a desire to change his life and break free from addiction. šŸ™ He was tired of doing things his way and made the courageous decision to surrender it all to God.

Since arriving, Branden has already taken big steps in faith. šŸ’Ŗ Heā€™s secured a job and is learning to walk in purpose, humility, and hope trusting that Godā€™s way is always better than our own.

As we step into the holiday season, we want to take a moment to share our gratitude and some exciting updates from Out of the Ashes Resale Store!

First, a special thank you to Michael, who has been an incredible part of our team over the past several months. His hard work, cheerful spirit, and dedication have made a true difference in the store and in the lives we touch. We are so grateful for you, Michael!

Weā€™re also thrilled to announce that we are now open on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM! This gives our community even more opportunities to shop, donate, and support the mission of Out of the Ashes.

World Homeless Day , Ā Rutherford County, NC šŸŒŽ

October 10th was World Homeless Day, and right here in Rutherford County we donā€™t just talk about homelessness, we face it head on every single day.

At Out of the Ashes Ministries, we walk alongside men, women, and children who have lost housing, hope, or direction. Through our shelter, transitional housing, recovery program, and supportive services, we help people rebuild their lives from the inside out.

Homelessness is not a statistic, itā€™s a person.

Itā€™s the mother escaping domestic violence.

Itā€™s the father who lost his job and fell behind.

Itā€™s the young adult aging out of foster care.

Itā€™s the neighbor sleeping in their car just trying to stay safe.

Thereā€™s been a lot of talk in the community about ordinances, funding, and ā€œthe homeless.ā€ Those conversations matter, but so does how we talk about our neighbors. Too often, stigma drowns out compassion. But we see something different every day: resilience, faith, and the power of second chances.

On this World Homeless Day, we stand with every person who has ever felt unseen or unheard.

We stand for solutions, not shame.

We believe community heals.

And we know housing is more than a roof, itā€™s hope restored.

Chrisā€™s journey is a powerful reminder of Godā€™s grace and the strength of true humility. He has walked through struggles, faced setbacks, and, by Godā€™s mercy, found redemption. After his first time with Out of the Ashes, Chris had a year clean but fell back. This time, he came with a humble heart, gave his life to the Lord, and something is different.

Today, Chris is not just sober, heā€™s serving, giving back, and walking alongside the men who are still fighting their battles. We are so grateful to God for Chris, and weā€™re thankful to our community for your support and prayers that make testimonies like this possible.
